No for real I don’t.

I’ve spent about the last week or so in Ft. Worth hanging out with my AMAZING friends.  Tonight we went rock climbing at Summit in Grapevine, which happens to be the most well hidden location in the world.  Seriously, you’re driving along looking for the left turn you’re supposed to take into the place and you just see trees, trees, trees.  No Summit there.  Drive a little further and there’s a biiiiggg old building that has big “S” logos on the side.  That must be it.  S is for Summit.  Or you know, Stacey’s Furniture.  And Mustang Drive suddenly turns into some airport access road and the warning signs go off that maybe, behind all those trees, Summit Rockclimbing is hidden.  My guess is that there are all those trees to give you a real nature-y (no, not natural, just nature-y) feel to the place.  Climbing REAL rocks in a REAL forest of trees.  Except the rocks are neon colored and end at the ceiling by a rusty metal bell.  Whatever.

So after rock climbing we went to Joe’s Crab Shack (delicious).  We decided to celebrate Heidi and Daisy’s birthdays tonight (Heidi’s birthday was a few days ago, Daisy’s is coming up) so they could have the special Joe’s Birthday Treatment (which is usually something fun and embarrassing).  I told the waiter to make sure it was extra humiliating.

So after they’re done walking around the restaurant like a crab (Daisy) and a chicken (Heidi), the waiter calls me out.

W:  So your friends told us they really just wanted to humiliate y’all.  That girl riiiight there (pointing to me) told me so.  So when her birthday comes up, make sure y’all get her back.

H&D: Hahahaha okay!

Me:  Hahaha it’ll be a while, I juuuuust celebrated my birthday!

Everyone:  *stare*  YOUR TURN!

So I got my own hat and got to squawk like a parrot while they sang happy birthday to me.  Awesome.  My foot in mouth experience wasn’t that tasty, but it was definitely one for the books.

Camp has officially been done and over with for a week and I’ve been bouncing back and forth between being really busy and having nothing to do at all.  I did nothing for almost five days, then bam! Carly’s play, then bam! Atrocity Solution show, then bam!  Today, doing nothing.  But tomorrow, bam!  Getting my new phone hopefully.  My phone got destroyed right after camp.  So I’m just having to wing it until I can get my new one.  Will update soon with all the juicy deets of my end-of-summer adventures.

Here’s a short run down of the off-stage drama we’ve experienced thus far.

• He-said, she-said director drama
• A camper being upset about a part they were cast in, withdrawing from camp, then showing up again the next day to check back in
• A camper having a mental breakdown after a rape scene in a play
• A camper gashing his foot on a glass lantern

And that’s just what I can remember off-hand from the last TWO DAYS.  Two days of that.  It’s like all of the drama of a full-fledged production condensed and heated into two weeks.  But I can’t lie, I absolutely love it.

The only real issues I have are those of my own.  My sleeping schedule is awful and I’ve been forcing myself to eat because I just haven’t been hungry.  Other than that though, I’m meeting a lot of amazing people, a lot of amazingly ridiculous people, and ultimately, meeting a lot of new friends.

My birthday is tomorrow!  We’re having a dance tomorrow night (unintentionally on my birthday), so it ought to be fun.  Will update with photos/videos as soon as I can.

Two and a half hours later, I arrived in Georgetown.

I have no sense of direction and apparently I lack enough common sense to navigate without explicit directions telling me where I ought to go.  Let me tell you, nothing strikes fear into my heart like trying to get to Georgetown just to see a water tower that says TEXAS STATE. For the record, Texas State University is in San Marcos, which is much further south of Georgetown.  Thankfully, I had only wound up at the Round Rock Higher Education Center and was only about 15 minutes away from where I needed to be.  This, of course, was after I wound up being 8 miles outside of Cedar Park (wrong direction), going south on I-35 (wrong direction) and turning around on this one road which should have been the (right direction), but, naturally, I was going the (wrong direction).

Needless to say, I wound up here at Southwestern University unscathed and only slightly exhausted.  Little did I know that this was only the beginning of the amazing amounts of exhaustion, fun, confusion, companionship, and general anxiety that I would be dealing with here at camp.  Good times to come, stay tuned for the next update…

So I recorded this when I was still in Ft Worth; Alex’s birthday was actually two days ago. Still, happy birthday Alex! This is just a catch up/ketchup video before I leave for camp tomorrow!
